We have talked about the situation, and it seems that if we proceed in a number of steps, we can fix this mess.
1. Phil Rockefeller has written a referendum to the voters to ask us to clarify if we mean for the Legislature to have a 2/3′s majority to close tax loopholes. I certainly hope the voters will reply with a resounding, “NO”.
2. Ask your legislators to vote, “YES” on HB 2078, which is the first of bills to close tax loopholes and use the money for education.
3. Stop the “All Cuts” budget. It hurts too many people. We need to close that tax loopholes on the big guys. Tell your legislators to vote, “No.”
4. Urge legislators to use future funding to support education and Basic Health Plan.
It not only helps individuals, but businesses by providing better employees, and a health care plan you can afford .
5. Push for streamlined paperwork.
6. Mandated equipment must be size appropriate to your business.
7. After we have a balanced budget, change the B and O tax to tax only profits, not money in.
